Outbreak: ZONE 1
St George’s Refuge


Outbreak is a concept for an apocalyptic game map design set in Liverpool, specifically centered around St. George's Hall and St. John's Garden. In this game level, players must defend their base while gathering supplies to ensure their escape from Zombies.



World backstory:


The year is 2025 and the pandemic spreads, it begins the collapse of humanity. Infected civilians start to mutate into zombies. Survivors band together to find refuge within the former fortified walls of St George’s Hall, transforming the area into a safe zone. Gradually increasing their community to St John’s Garden.

The present year is 2045. The group of survivors forged a new life in a forever-altered world. Their struggles and resilience result in the restoration of Humanity. Will they ever be able to escape this hell?
 








World Map


The map provides details of the community base, showcasing key structures and designated defense areas. It highlights important structures and illustrates the layout, which is designed for easy navigation.



Rules of the world:


  • It’s the year 2045.
  • Power cut off in a week
  • Water cut off within a month
  • Hordes of zombies roam outside the walls
  • Zombie’s cause immediate infection when bitten






The Weapon Forge 



Backstory


The Forge has experienced previous fires that caused damage to the surrounding community. As a precaution, the structure has been elevated on a stone base, and a wooden platform has been constructed outside to facilitate easier access.


Purpose


The primary function of the Forge is to manufacture tools and weapons for the community and to carry out repairs on local structures. In an apocalyptic world, this building plays a crucial role in helping the community evolve and adapt to ongoing challenges.









The Food Truck





Backstory


The truck was initially brought in from outside the wall and modified for defensive purposes against zombies. It has since been re-purposed and converted into a food truck for the community.


Purpose


To cook meals to sustain the players hunger. Players can create meals with different status effects to buff or debuff during combat.




The Greenhouse





Backstory


In response to the challenges faced by the community after the water supply ceased and crops started to fail, residents have begun to stockpile water. This initiative aims to support both farming needs and address the hydration requirements of the population and livestock.


Purpose


The function is to supply food for the player and the community. Depending on the maintenance of the crops and the quality of the meals they can produce. Resulting in a power surge for the player.




The Wearhouse



Backstory


The warehouse has experienced attacks from raiders in the past. In response, additional defenses have been implemented, and the number of guards has been increased to enhance security.


Purpose


The storage system within the warehouse serves to inform players about their supply limits. This feature indicates when it becomes necessary to upgrade the warehouse to accommodate growing needs.




The Watch Tower



Backstory


The watchtowers were initially constructed as scouting points but eventually evolved into defensive structures where camp members can patrol the area. They continue to serve a vital role in ensuring safe exits from the campsite.


Purpose


The defense tower serves a dual purpose: it acts as a lookout point for monitoring the surrounding area and as a protective structure for the community. Players have the option to send out NPC camp members to gather supplies. However, these expeditions can carry risks, including the possibility of injuries or infections.







The Medical Center



Backstory


The medical center has experienced incidents where civilians underwent mutations, leading to disruptions within the camp. To prevent the risk of similar occurrences in the future, the medical center has implemented safety measures, including the installation of barricades and the establishment of isolation rooms.


Purpose


The medical area provides heals and maintain the health care to the community.







The Chicken Farm



Backstory


When transporting the chickens to the camp, requires the construction of appropriate cages. These cages must be lightweight to enable quick movements, especially in the event of a potential zombie threat.


Purpose


The farm serves as an important source of food for both players and the community, supplying valuable protein for the camp’s nutritional needs. Additionally, the chickens produce manure that can be used to enrich the soil for crop cultivation.
